Sence of Panama

The highlight of my time in Panama was, of course, the Panama Canal. This mega structure is considered to be one of the greatest engineering achievements in the world and its opening in 1914 had a great influence on the trade of many countries. For instance, the city of Valparaiso, Chile lost its significance as the sailing route changed. For the entire world, the Canal marked a new era where transportation cost and sailing time was reduced dramatically. Panama City was a much more cosmopolitan than I had expected and the old town had a wonderful charm.

On the way to Costa Rica, I was stopped by some police officers for speeding. They were all interested in my Round the World trip and “forgot” to fine me.

It took me nearly 3 hours to produce an 8.2 second video clip of the Canal.
