At the border between Panama and Costa Rica, I was stopped on the 5th of May by Panamanian Customs, which insisted they see my “temporary import permit.” I air-freighted my motorcycle from Colombia to Panama and the airport customs there cleared it, stamping the Airway Bill documents. However, they did not issue a special “temporary import permit.” This resulted in a long three day wait while they solved the problem. I met very nice people, but the system is terrible.
