Morocco – Sahara Desert

There is something about deserts that appeal and fascinate me – the magnitude, the dunes, the shades and the simplicity. Our visit to the nomads that live in the desert was the highlight of our travel to Morocco. Our guide, who was himself a nomad for ten years, opened a new world of discovery for us. Life in the desert couldn’t be more distant from our modern life in Iceland and I am certain that these people would never thrive in our culture or environment, just as we could not thrive in theirs. If we learned to respect each other’s lifestyle, culture and religions – more then we do – then we could start to appreciate and enjoy the variation that this world has to offer.
