We arrived in Christchurch exactly six years to the day after one of the worst earthquakes in New Zealand’s history. The quake caused widespread damage across the city, killing 185 people in the nation’s fifth-deadliest natural disaster. It was moving to see the memorial for those who had lost their lives, and more so, that much of the devastation was still visible. After a two day stop in Christchurch, we headed south where the forces of nature have sculptured a magnificent landscape.
